Joel will report on how the cooperative model is being applied in the development of an ecovillage neighborhood in Lancaster, PA, where he lives. With affordability in mind, he’ll propose some creative approaches to making the pivot from conventional debt financing to cooperative equity ownership.

The Ecovillagers Alliance is a nonprofit coalition dedicated to cultivating CLC’s (Community Land Cooperatives) in service to ecovillage neighborhoods across the US.

EVA and Ecovillage New Jersey are part of a global movement, collectively demonstrating how society can go in a very different direction. Restoring the sanity of community-based life and a healthy relationship with the natural world is undoubtedly going to take some time, but it’s imperative that a start is made ASAP toward that transition.

Holding in mind that overarching process can give us a sense of participating in the realization of a vision: A better way to live . . . in terms of immediate life-satisfaction for us, but also in terms of starting to build the new world within the shell of the old.
